Tapestry Making up Service

Once you’ve stitched your tapestry it’s time for the final flourish, the finishing touches that will turn your work into a stunning focal point either for your own home, or to give as a gift to friends or family.

Our team of skilled team of upholsterers is ready to take care of zips and piping for you and with over twenty-five years’ experience, we can also offer advice if you aren’t sure about colours or fabric options for your needlepoint.

Decisions, decisions – colours and fabric Call us on 01460 281111 if you need help to choose colours and fabric for your tapestry. We keep a good selection of UK made fabric in stock including velvet, cotton and a wool mix.

Sending fabric samples in the post If you are in the UK we can send fabric swatches to help you decide.

Non-Jolly Red designs We can make up designs from other brands such as Ehrman tapestry. Please use our online form to contact us if your tapestry is not one of our designs and let us know the title of the design you have stitched and the brand. Our annual pre-Christmas rush starts in September so don’t leave it too late to post your tapestry to us, and send your tapestries throughout the year.

Contacting us by phone Call us on 01460 281111 if  you’d like to talk about a tapestry that you want to have made up. We’ll talk you through how the process works, and between us we’ll get an idea of the colours and fabric that you’d like us to use for your tapestry.

Emailing a booking form After our initial chat, we’ll email a booking form to you as this helps you to remember to include all the details we need before we start work on your tapestry.

Our standard cushion making up prices are set out below and include the stretching of your canvas, the supply of fabric for making up, the making up with piping and concealed zip, a top quality feather pad, and return delivery of finished tapestry to UK address usually by DPD couriers (trackable, next day service), and occasionally by Royal Mail Special Delivery. There may be a small surcharge for some non-mainland UK deliveries, depending on the weight of the parcel.*

Piping/cord for edging We make our own bespoke piping for each customer, by covering piping cord with your selected fabric. We request that you do not send in ready made ‘flanged cord’ or other cord edging unless you have checked with us first that it’ll be suitable.

Before you send in your work – a quick checklist before posting:

Your details Please call us to discuss colours and fabric options before sending in your tapestry. If you don’t have one of our booking forms, please include a covering letter and remember to include your name, address, a contact phone number and email address if possible, and additional information if we will be returning your tapestry to a third party* (see below).

Please post your work using a ‘signed for‘ method.

Posting tip: If you will be calling to check that your parcel has arrived, remember to write your name and address on the back of your parcel so that we will be able to locate it easily. We have experienced a huge increase in demand for our services in recent years, with many parcels arriving each week.

Payment There are three ways to pay. Here are the options, so please choose the one that’s best for you:

1. Credit/debit card Call us on 01460 281111 to leave your card details for payment before posting your tapestry. We will only charge your card when we have completed work and are packing your tapestry ready to return it to you. Please do not send card details in the post with your parcel.

2. Bank transfer If you would like to pay by bank transfer, let us know or circle this option on your booking form. When we have completed your tapestry, we’ll email you to let you know it’s ready and arrange a date for its return, and we’ll sort out the payment at the same time.

3. PayPal As with the bank transfer option, please let us know or circle ‘PayPal’ on your booking form. When we have completed your tapestry, we’ll email you to let you know it’s ready and arrange a date for its return, and send you a PayPal invoice at the same time.

Sending your tapestry to a third party address If you have made your tapestry as a gift but are unable to travel to visit friends or relatives to deliver in person, we can send your tapestry direct to them on your behalf (UK destinations only).

Please remember to include the recipient’s name and address, along with a mobile phone number and email address so that we can contact them to arrange delivery. Please include a card if you would like to. If we’ll be sending to a third party on your behalf, we will email photographs of the completed tapestry to you so you can see your finished work.

We hope this helps, and look forward to adding the finishing touch to your next tapestry.

Kelly & the Jolly Red sewing team.
