To ensure return delivery to you by Christmas (UK address), we need your stockings by 31st October
We make up Christmas stockings using either a heavy weight cotton fabric or a cotton velvet, with a lighter weight cotton lining. There is a layer of wadding between the lining and the outer fabric (front and back). The stockings have a border around them which is folded at the top to create the hanging loop.
The most popular Christmas stocking colours are the rich, traditional ones: dark red, bright red, navy or bottle green, but we make up stockings in many other combinations. We stock many non-traditional colours, so please call us or email if you would like to discuss other options.
For inspiration, we have many albums of completed stockings on our Facebook page, which you can easily link to from the home page of our website. Don’t forget to ‘Like’ our page for more updates!
Christmas Stocking Making Up Price:
This cost includes initial canvas stretching, making up of stocking and return to a mainland UK address. Non-mainland addresses may incur an additional postage charge.
Please do include a note of your preferred fabric (either cotton or velvet) and colour choices for backing and lining when sending in your work. It’s a good idea to sort out the details in advance, as it often means that we will be able to return your work more speedily.
If unsure, call 01460 281111 to discuss colour options before sending in your stocking. We are always happy to help and advise.
Two decisions you need to make:
Outer and lining fabric and colours
Cotton outer fabric Choose from navy blue, dark red, lighter/brighter red, bottle green, aubergine, black. Call for details of non-traditonal colours, eg pink.
Velvet outer fabric Choose from navy blue, mid blue, denimy/lighter blue, royal blue, bright red, raspberry red, bottle green, purple, gold, orange, light pink, black.
Lining fabric Choose from bright red, navy, royal blue/purple (this one seems to change depending on what it’s next to), light blue, yellow, gold, bottle green, emerald.
Linings continued We have a range of polka dot cotton linings – navy, light blue, raspberry red, heather and light pink each with white dots.
We often have other non-traditional colours, so please call us or email if you would like to discuss other options.
Before you post your tapestry From early September, tapestries arrive thick and fast in our Somerset workshop. It will help us and speed things up for you if you are able to include details of your chosen fabric, both the outer fabric and the lining.
Why the October 31st deadline? It may seem early, but it isn’t really, as all tapestries need to be dampened, stretched and dried (sometimes more than once) before they are made up. This takes longer in autumn and winter than at other times of the year. Most importantly, we do our utmost to return your Christmas stocking well before Christmas Eve.
Before you send in your work – a quick checklist before posting:
