Please note that this year – 2021 – we have not set a deadline date to receive Christmas stockings for making up, but it is unlikely to be later than 10th October. Please send your stockings in throughout the year if you can rather than send a whole collection at the last minute – thank you!
We make up Christmas stockings using either a heavy weight cotton fabric or a cotton velvet, always with a lighter weight cotton lining. There is a layer of wadding between the lining and the outer fabric (front and back). The stockings have a border around them which is folded at the top to create the hanging loop.
The most popular Christmas stocking colours are the rich, traditional ones: dark red, bright red, navy or bottle green, but we make up stockings in many other combinations. We stock many non-traditional colours, so please call us or email if you would like to discuss other options. We have put together a blog post, with helpful pictures.
For further inspiration, we have many albums of completed stockings on our Facebook page, which you can easily link to from the home page of our website. Don’t forget to ‘Like’ our page for more updates!

Before you post your tapestry From early September, tapestries arrive thick and fast in our Somerset workshop. It is most helpful if you are able to include details of your chosen fabric for your Christmas stocking, both the outer fabric and the lining.
Why is the making up deadline so early? The making up process is quite complex as all tapestries need to be dampened, stretched and dried (sometimes more than once) before they are made up. This takes longer in autumn and winter than at other times of the year. Most importantly, we do our utmost to return your Christmas stocking well before Christmas Eve.
Please send your stockings to us throughout the year to avoid possible disappointment.
Before you send in your work – a quick checklist before posting:
Your details Please call us to discuss colours and fabric options before sending in your tapestry. Remember to include your name, address, a contact phone number and email address if possible, and details of different return address if necessary.
Please post your work using a ‘signed for‘ method.
If you will be calling to check that your parcel has arrived, remember to write your name and address on the back of your parcel.
Please let us know how you will be paying for our service. There are three ways to pay: You can call us on 01460 281111 to leave credit/debit which we will only process once we have finished working on your stocking and it’s ready to go home. Other options are a bank transfer or PayPal (if you choose one of these payment methods we’ll send details of these last two when we have completed the work on your tapestry).
Post to us, using a ‘signed for’ method, to:
