Dachshund Stripes is a fantastic new tapestry kit for lovers of the adorable diminutive dogs! Dachshunds are such popular dogs and when Janine, our in house sewing lady, bought herself a dachshund puppy it was inevitable that a dachshund tapestry would join our range of kits at some point.
As is often the case with our designs, Dachshund Stripes took a while to get right. The design began life with a plain blue background, to which I added little clumps of flowers between the dogs, but that looked a bit fussy. In the end I settled on vibrant stripes, which are perfect for these colourful characters. I like irregular stripes as they are easier on the eye than fixed width ones.
What’s in a kit? Each kit contains everything you need: Full colour printed canvas (12 holes per inch), reference chart, a generous supply of Anchor tapestry wool, a needle and clear instructions.
Once you’ve stitched your tapestry, it will look fantastic made it into the central panel of a cushion or bag, or as a specs case. We made up our own Dachshund Stripes cushion with two shades of cotton fabric, our soft cotton (Malvern SC03) for the border and Yellow Lime JRCG03 for piping and backing. For our specs case we added a black hand sewn edge with a coral lining.
