Come and stitch in Somerset! Earlier this year we held our first ever ‘relax and stitch’ sessions for Jolly Red stitchers, and we’ll bedoing it again in September. The venue was the stunning Hurds Hill in Langport, just up the road from our tapestry workshop in Isle Brewers.

September dates and how to book a place Below are the dates of our September 2024 stitching sessions. The sessions are fun, free and fabulous, a wonderful opportunity to get together with like-minded people in a beautiful setting. We hope you’ll be able to join us.

Booking a place at a stitching session If you’d like to book a place at one of our Relax and Stitch sessions please get in touch via the contact form on our website, send an email to kelly@jollyred.co.uk or call us on 01460 281111.

What we need to know Please tell us which session you’d like to come to and whether or not you’ll be bringing any fellow stitchers. If bringing a friend, let us know his/her name. Places are limited, so don’t leave it too late to book.

Stitchers only please We regret that canine companions are not invited, even though we know they’d love to come. We are having to speak in hushed tones about our little events, for fear of the office manager finding out about our extra-curricular activities and going into a massive sulk.

Here is a small selection of pictures from our February days at Hurds Hill, and there are many more on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

So…what was everyone stitching? Victoria, Katherine and Gillian settled down with their Alphabet Garden and Tennis Ball Thief tapestries. Jenny brought along a selection of her Jolly Red collection including Peacock Star, Chick Chick Chicken teacosy and her Patchwork Alphabet. Susan made great progress on her Tennis Ball Thief kit that her daughter Esther bought for her last Christmas.

Karen and Katherine joined us on Saturday. Katherine was stitching a Puppy kit and Karen started a Midnight Garden tapestry.

Our youngest stitcher was Edward, who started his first ever tapestry. His Mum, Helen, reports that he was still stitching on Sunday and is enjoying his new hobby. We wonder what he’ll stitch once he’s finished Kitten!

Barbara will definitely be getting her Sleigh Bells Christmas to us in plenty of time for this year’s making up! Meanwhile, Liz was working on Midnight Garden, Laura did some more of her Tree of Life for her April deadline, and Susan tackled an enormous birds canvas that she bought on holiday in America.

During our two days at Hurds Hill we enjoyed meeting many stitchers, and we were pleased to hear that stitchers enjoyed meeting some of the Jolly Red team. Accounts Julie stitched a Mother Hen starter kit, while George raced ahead with the Puppies Christmas stocking that she started just a few weeks ago.

Sarah started a Grey Hearts tapestry and Janine mostly chatted and forgot about her Dachshund Stripes. Meanwhile, Kay was back at the workshop, ready to drive up to Hurds Hill to bring along extra kits and tapestry frames as needed.

Thank you so much to everyone who came to our first session. We had such a laugh, and our hosts David and Clifford couldn’t have been more hospitable. Clifford received numerous requests for one of his cakes, which we now know was Rick Stein’s orange and almond cake, perfect for our gluten-free guests. Fortunately, Clifford had made plenty for us all!

We are filled us with enthusiasm for September and we look forward to welcoming friends old and new.

Best wishes,

Kelly x
