A warm welcome to Jolly Red! Our unique range of tapestry kits is designed by me, Kelly, and assembled by myself and our small team in our Somerset workshop. 

Your stitching pleasure is our priority, and I design with you, the stitcher, in mind. We are perfectionists, generous with materials, and always willing to assist with any queries, or give advice before you purchase your tapestry.

I create designs that I’d like to stitch, and I guarantee that you won’t get bogged down with lots of similar colours and intricate shading with your Jolly Red kit. Our designs are clear and well printed on the canvas. We supply ample wool so you can stitch each kit in tent stitch – you’ll have more than enough if you stitch in half cross stitch!

We work closely with our suppliers to maintain the excellent standards for which we have become known since we started business in 1993. Our canvases are printed in the UK, and we use British-made Appletons tapestry wool for the vast majority of our kits.

A little bit of background Jolly Red was set up by tapestry weaver Kelly Fletcher, shortly after her graduation from the Royal College of Art, London.

Jolly Red’s first range was a small collection of six modern and colourful designs.

Fast forward over thirty years and Kelly still creates each of Jolly Red’s designs. Having initially set out as a designer before the age of computer programmes, Kelly continues to enjoy designing in sketchbooks and on graph paper. Nowadays, there is the luxury of transferring the designs – square by square – to a computer so that a prototype can be stitched for each new design. This low-tech way of working gives Jolly Red designs their slightly naive quality, as well as their relaxed friendly feel.

Jolly Red’s range of designs includes cushion kits, birth samplers, specs cases, starter kits and Christmas stockings.

We have a talented team of skilled upholsterers who can transform your completed needlepoint into beautiful cushions and other family heirlooms.
