It’s visiting season in our Somerset HQ, and in the last few weeks there’s been a steady flow of people popping in to pick up new tapestry projects, or bringing in completed tapestries for our Making up Service.

If you’re planning a visit, bear in mind that we don’t keep to fixed 9-5 hours, and a few years ago declared Fridays to be Flexi Fridays. That said, we enjoy early starts and are often in at weekends too so we’ll do our best to accommodate you whenever you think you’ll be in or near Isle Brewers. Give us a call first on 01460 281111 so we can make sure we’ll be in when you’re passing.

Coming to visit is a great way to choose fabric for a tapestry that you have finished, as you can see and feel the three ranges of fabric that we stock and together we’ll try out various fabric and colour options for your tapestry.

Sue is a regular visitor to our Somerset hideaway and last month she brought in her Indian Elephant tapestry which she’d specially stitched for her granddaughter. A few weeks later, and Sue’s cushion was ready to collect for her to take to London. It looked stunning in Sue’s chosen colours, two shades of our cotton fabric. Great work, Sue, and lovely colours!

For Sue’s Indian Elehant we used a teal cotton border, with yellowy lime for piping and backing.

Another happy face making a regular visit to our workshop is Clive, here with his wife Lucy’s Carnival tapestry. It’ll look great with the red and blue fabrics that Lucy has chosen.

Last Saturday was a busy day for visitors. Among them was Philippa with her Queen of Hearts tapestry. Her cushion will look great in red and purple velvet.

Currently on the stretching boards are an Old English Hen and Old English Cockerel stitched as a wedding present for a stitcher’s son and daughter-in-law, as well as other surprise tapestries which must be kept under wraps for now.

Many visitors will remember our lovely Jack Russell Flik, who always liked to be the centre of attention. Flik is no longer with us, but our love of dogs remains and if you visit you may well meet Paddy, our friend Robin’s rescue lurcher. We’re looking after him one day a week and you can see that he’s already settling in well!

Leggy lurchers couldn’t be more different to (in Flik’s case) stumpy little Jack Russells, so we’re enjoying getting to know Paddy.

We look forward to seeing our regular visitors over the coming months. If you’ll be venturing our way for the first time do remember to look at a map or set your satnav before you set off. TA3 6QL! We look forward to welcoming you.
