Choosing a Tapestry Frame

A tapestry frame is not essential but using one will help to prevent work going out of shape as well as making it easy to resume stitching the next day or after a break. Children may find it easier to focus on the tapestry if they aren't also having to physically hold on to the canvas as they stitch.

We stock a good range of British made no-sew tapestry clip frames which are easy to assemble. The canvas is attached by sturdy clips, so the canvas doesn't have to be sewn on to the frame.

Which size of frame is best for a beginner? For Fairy Godmother starter kit a 12" wide CF129 frame is a good size. If you may want to stitch a larger design in the future, choose one of the wider frames with code ending in '9' and place your canvas in the centre of the frame when you stitch it.

Choosing a Frame

A tapestry frame is not essential, but is particularly useful for beginners as it leaves both hands free for stitching. We stock a good range of British made no-sew tapestry clip frames which only take a few minutes to assemble. As the canvas is attached by clips, the frames allow you to switch between projects if necessary.

For Fairy Godmother, we recommend a CF129 frame but choose one of the larger frames with code ending in ‘9’ if you think you will stitch larger projects in the future.
