Hello tapestry friends! It’s almost the end of another year and before we all go home for a festive break we’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Christmas.
We try to have our Christmas party (when such things are possible) before December and we are so glad that we had this year’s workshop get together in November, at the fabulous Hurds Hill. Hurds Hill is as light and spacious a venue as we could ever hope to find – and it’s practically on our doorstep!
If you’re wondering who everyone is, let me introduce the gang. From bottom left, then up the stairs and round we have: Accounts Julie, photos George, woodpecker Ali (canvas stretcher – this involves lots of banging in of nails!), admin assistant and prolific email lady Kay, sewing Julie, kit packer Tracey, Christmas stockings Sarah, sewing Janine – and that’s me, Kelly, at the front.
Thank you so much for all for your messages, phone calls and orders throughout the year. This year we’ve been able to welcome many more visitors to our workshop so it’s been lovely for us to put names to faces too.
Once again it’s been a difficult year in many ways, after almost two years of Covid-19. We do hope that you will be able to have a relaxing time between Christmas and New Year, and wish you some happy tapestry hours if Santa brings you a tapestry surprise.
We know that there will be lots happy children, adults (and pets!) receiving a lovingly stitched tapestry this year as our sewing ladies have worked hard throughout the year adding their final flourishes.
I’m looking forward to stitching up a new design and I’ve already worked out all the colours and the wool is waiting for me. That’ll be my holiday stitching while watching silly nonsense TV. I will also have my graph paper nearby as I start work on a new Christmas cushion for next year.
We will be back in the workshop on 29th and 30th posting out kits for New Year stitching, and then we’ll be back at the start of the New Year on 4th January.
Take care, stay safe and here’s to a merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2022,
PS Please do share pictures of your festive tapestries on Jolly Red’s Facebook page, or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org as we always love to see what you’re stitching or have been given if you are the lucky recipient of a handmade treasure.
