Happy New Year! We hope that 2023 has started well for you. We’re back to normal in the tapestry workshop, restocking kits and our sewing ladies have also returned from their Christmas break.

Here’s a quick run through of some of our plans for 2023.

New Year’s Resolutions Have you made any resolutions for 2023? My main aim this year is to spend more time designing and to finish designs that I have been working on in the last few years.

Stitchers are notorious for having many unfinished projects, so I think tapestry designers must be the same!

I always have several designs on the go at any one time so now I’m revisiting them, finishing them and stitching up their colour samples. I had a lovely time over the Christmas period, both relaxing and productive, and as a result there will be two new designs to show you very soon – a birth sampler and a new floral tapestry.

Tapestry Talk Newsletters This year we are changing the way that we do our newsletters so that we can keep in touch with our subscribers more regularly. Our newsletters will be shorter for those of you who don’t have time to read a long newsletter. We’ll include links wherever applicable to our blog for more information and longer chats for those of you who enjoy a longer read.

Jolly Red’s Facebook Albums We’ve been updating our Facebook albums over the last few weeks. These albums are a fantastic source of inspiration for anyone who is undecided about which tapestry to start, or for anyone who has finished a tapestry and would like to see examples of how it looks made up with a variety of different colours.

Below is a snapshot of some of our Facebook albums. Updating them is an ongoing task and we still have lots of new pictures from 2022 to add. Thank you to everyone who comments on or likes our albums, it makes such a difference to know that you enjoy seeing the photographs.

If you have a wedding or anniversary coming up you can browse through our two Love Birds albums (we have one album showing cushions with standard piping and backing and another with additional mitred borders). Then there’s Congratulations, Tree of Life, Apple Tree and Apple Season Wedding, and many more.

Tapestry making up service – good news from our sewing ladies! During the lockdowns we were rushed off our feet with all the tapestries that we received in our Somerset hideaway. Last year we had to concentrate exclusively on Jolly Red canvases so that we could recover.

We are pleased to say that we can now accept both Jolly Red and non-Jolly Red canvases. This move has been prompted by Jolly Redders who occasionally stitch designs by other brands too, and want to ensure that all of their tapestries are made up to the same high standard.

Do get in touch if you have a tapestry that needs attention and we can discuss it by email, and send you fabric samples if you need them. If you’d prefer to talk to a member of our friendly team, we are on 01460 281111. And if you are in Somerset or will be nearby on holiday you are very welcome to call or email to fix a time to bring your tapestry in.

That’s all for now, but there’s just time for a cosy Christmas picture of the office manager and the apprentice. We’ve barely had the heating on in recent months but are lucky to have an open fire at home. Within an hour of lighting the fire, both office manager and apprentice were sound asleep on the sofa!

With all best wishes for the coming year,

Kelly x
